1. Drop Off

Our trained staff receives your electronics for processing. Collections are securely documented throughout the intake process.

3. Secure Data Destruction

We securely process all devices containing data storage using data destruction methods that follow the NIST 800-88 Revision 1 standard. We permanently remove confidential information before any equipment leaves our facility.

4. Testing and Refurbishment

Whenever possible, we test, repair, and refurbish usable computers and other electronics to give them a second life. By extending the lifespan of technology, we reduce electronic waste and provide our community with affordable technology options.

5. Responsible Recycling

When we can’t reuse electronics, we dismantle them and send the materials to our certified downstream recycling partners. Our partners recover valuable materials such as aluminum, steel, copper, plastics, and precious metals, while responsibly managing hazardous materials in accordance with environmental regulations.

Why Electronics Recycling Matters

Electronic waste is one of the fastest-growing waste streams in the world. Recycling electronics responsibly helps protect our environment, conserve valuable resources, and reduce the risks associated with improper disposal.

Protects the Environment

Many electronic devices contain materials that should never enter landfills. Responsible recycling helps prevent hazardous substances from entering soil and groundwater while reducing unnecessary waste.

Conserves Valuable Resources

Computers, phones, and other electronics contain recoverable materials including aluminum, copper, steel, gold, silver, and other valuable components. Recycling allows these materials to be recovered and reused instead of extracting new raw materials.

Protects Personal Information

Old computers, phones, and storage devices often contain sensitive personal or business information. Secure data destruction ensures confidential data is removed before equipment is reused or recycled.

Reduces Electronic Waste

Extending the life of electronics through refurbishment and responsible recycling reduces demand for new manufacturing and helps conserve natural resources.

Oregon E-Cycles Program

Garten is proudly participates in the Oregon E-Cycles program, a statewide initiative that provides Oregon residents with convenient opportunities to recycle eligible electronics safely and responsibly.

The Oregon E-Cycles program accepts many common electronic devices, including desktop computers, laptops, monitors, and televisions from households at no charge. Eligible devices collected through the program are responsibly recycled, helping keep electronic waste out of Oregon landfills while recovering valuable materials for future use.

Residents may bring up to seven eligible devices per day through the Oregon E-Cycles program. Additional recycling services and secure hard drive destruction are also available for items or services outside the standard program.

If you’re unsure whether your electronic device qualifies, our team is happy to answer your questions and help you find the most appropriate recycling solution.
