General Position Summary:

Provides the day-to-day supervision of assigned custodial operations.  This includes the direct supervision of all custodial site supervisors as well as their on-going training.  Ensures adequate coverage and coordination is provided to complete all contractual requirements, all other assigned tasks, and to maintain the quality of all work performed as well as the safety of all employees.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

  • Provides supervision and assistance to the assigned crew(s) to ensure all work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Ensures proper utilization of personnel to ensure optimum efficiency.
  • Ensures that all work performed meets the contractual requirements ofeachsite with emphasis placed on maintaining the quality of all tasks performed.
  • Assists in dealing with issues involving personnel, site security, specific tasks, and other situations that may occur.
  • Provide backup coverage for Custodians and Lead Service Workers when needed. (Shifts in between 3pm-3am)
  • Conduct quality and site inspections with cooperation with Quality Assurance Trainer.
  • Contacts site representatives as required when problem issues arise.
  • Assists management in reducing operational costs.
  • Trains assigned staff in proper supervisory techniques. 

Secondary Functions:

  • Is directly responsible to assist management in minimizing the use of overtime as well as the need to utilize temporary labor.
  • Fills in for crew membersas required to ensure adequate coverage is available so that all work is accomplished.
  • Flexible schedule with late night and weekend work as needed.
  • Attends meetings and participates on teams/committees as assigned.
  • Provides input for developing and coordinating workflow and processes to create integrated employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
  • Monitors supplies usage to keep it to a minimum.
  • Ensures that all site custodial closets are maintained in a neat and orderly manner.  They are organized, clean, all chemicals are properly labeled, and equipment is repaired.
  • Ensure that MSDS books are available at each site, and that they are kept up to date.
  • Ensure that current customer contracts are on file at each site.
  • Responsible for ensuring that site logbooks are maintained and utilized.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned.

Specific Job Skills Required:

  • Excellent supervisory and communication skills.
  • Must be able to work quickly and decisively while ensuring quality work and maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Ability to make decisions.
  • Ability to communicate well in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to actively participate in team development and team oriented processes and motivate others to do so as well.
  • Ability to use computer hardware and software.
  • Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and proof of current vehicle insurance.
  • Must pass criminal history check.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to bend, twist, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, and reach overhead.
  • Ability to operate various types of custodial equipment.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds, lift up to 150 pounds, and carry up to 50 pounds regularly throughout a normal workday.

Education and/or Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in general custodial services.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 to 3 years supervisory experience.
