Growing As Garten

Founded in 1970 by Sally Gearhart, Garten is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization based in Salem, Oregon, providing employment services and job training for people with disabilities across the Willamette Valley. Serving more than 200 individuals each year, Garten helps people build skills, gain meaningful employment, and grow their independence through inclusive, community-based programs.

Through a unique nonprofit business model, Garten operates social enterprises and supported employment programs that create real job opportunities both on-site and within the broader community.

By reinvesting revenue in our mission, we’re able to expand access to employment, strengthen local partnerships, and create a lasting impact for people with disabilities.
