Garten's mission is to support people with disabilities in their effort to contribute to the community through employment, career, and retirement opportunities.
Our actions increase society's awareness of human potential.

Our Services

Garten has been providing services to people with developmental disabilities and long-term mental illness in the Willamette Valley since 1970.

We know that when people with disabilities are given the opportunity to engage in meaningful work, the overall quality of life is their lives is enhanced.
We focus on the abilities and unique competencies of each person with disabilities whom we are privileged to serve, rather than merely their limitations.
We realize that individuals are the best judges of the quality of their own lives, so we engage in an ongoing dialogue that incorporates their experiences, opinions and desires into the services we provide them.
We provide the supports necessary to help each person with a disability in our programs to succeed in their job or career.

At Garten, we serve a range of age groups, from young adults to seniors. They live in a variety of housing settings—with family, in group homes or on their own. We offer varied opportunities, from a variety of vocational services to day activities that offer unstructured time, community outings and volunteer projects.
Do our services enhance quality of life for people with disabilities?  YES!

Increasing society's awareness of human potential . . .

Meet Emilie, employee of Garten’s Packaging & Assembly Division. She’s also a music lover and a Trail Blazer fan. Emilie’s work requires manual dexterity, repetition and persistence—tasks for neither machine nor highly-skilled technician. Emilie smiles as she says, “I can do any of the jobs here.”
In fact . . . when she’s at Garten, Emilie smiles a lot!
