Garten Landscape Training Program

Garten’s Landscape Training Program is a no-cost, six-week landscape training program designed to prepare participants for entry-level careers in the landscaping industry in Salem, Oregon. Through a blend of classroom instruction and weekly hands-on training, trainees build practical skills, industry knowledge, and confidence they can take directly into the workforce.

This comprehensive landscape course covers essential landscaping techniques while introducing advanced concepts used by today’s employers. Participants who successfully complete the program earn a Non-Credited Certificate through Chemeketa Community College, along with a $1,400 stipend to support them as they take their next career step.

Graduates leave the program equipped with real-world experience, job-ready skills, and a clear pathway into landscaping and landscape maintenance roles.

Program Features

Our Landscape Training Program is a no-cost career training program designed to connect learning directly to employment. Through hands-on landscape training, classroom instruction, and guidance from industry professionals, participants gain the skills and confidence needed for entry-level landscaping careers.

Hands-On Landscape Training

Trainees take part in weekly, hands-on landscape training that reflects real job site expectations. From landscape maintenance training techniques to introductory hardscaping training, participants develop practical skills they can apply immediately in the field.

Classroom Learning Led by Industry Professionals

This landscape course combines structured classroom training with lessons taught by local landscape companies. Industry partners join the program to share real-world knowledge, demonstrate best practices, and teach skills currently in demand, helping trainees understand employer expectations and workplace standards.

Career Training With Direct Employer Connection

As a career training program for employment, participants benefit from direct exposure to landscape companies throughout the course. Graduates earn a training program certificate in the form of a Non-Credited Certificate through Chemeketa Community College and leave prepared for entry-level training positions, with clear pathways into landscaping jobs after completion.

Provide Resources

We welcome donations of gently used landscape tools and equipment to support hands-on landscape training. Donated resources are used directly in our landscape training program, giving trainees real-world experience with the tools they will use on the job. This virtual, one-hour-per-month commitment allows employers to provide input on curriculum, skills development, and workforce needs, ensuring our career training program aligns with industry demand.
