General Position Summary:
This position is responsible for servicing assigned routes requiring collection of recyclable and confidential materials while providing excellent customer service. This position is responsible for performing all duties in a safe manner in accordance with Garten policies and procedures.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:
- Drives a variety of trucks (< 26,000gvw) for collection and delivery of recyclable materials.
- Picks-up and maintains confidential materials in a secure environment.
- Performs accurate record-keeping of materials per established procedures
- Loads and unloads materials from the vehicles in a safe and secure manner.
- Provides positive and timely customer service in the collection of material and delivery of required containers
- Coordinates special customer needs
Secondary Functions:
- Provides coverage for other divisions and organizational functions which require the pick-up and delivery of materials, equipment, supplies, furniture, etc.
- Provides supervisory/management coverage in the absence of the Supervisor.
- Is available for extra work during peak periods (e.g. October – November).
- Provides input on ways the organization can provide integrated employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
- Attends meetings and serves on teams/committees as assigned.
- Cleans and performs minor maintenance on vehicles.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Specific Job Skills Required:
- Excellent judgment, decision making, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to actively participate in team development and team-oriented processes.
- Ability to operate computer hardware/software.
- Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record and proof of current vehicle insurance.
- Ability to bend, twist, grasp and make repetitive motions of the hands, wrists, and feet.
- Ability to regularly push/pull up to 2000 pounds with a pallet jack, to lift up to 70 pounds and to carry up to 40 pounds.
Education and/or Experience:
- A minimum of 6 months experience/training in driving a truck is preferred
