Custodial Foreman

Summary

This position works as a team with the custodial supervisor and will be assigned additional duties as needed to accomplish the department’s work safely and efficiently. This position is a member of the Eugene Leadership Team. This team works together to solve branch-wide problems and develop/execute strategies to improve the organization. This can include actively helping another department. Members may have access to confidential information and must maintain confidentiality standards.

Primary Duties Include: 

  • Coordination/Direction: Work with supervisor to establish the schedules and assignments of custodians, individually and as crews. Oversee the execution throughout the shift.
  • Ensure custodians have the supplies, equipment, and other resources they need to perform their duties.
  • Training: Primary point of hands-on training with custodians. This includes training new custodians and retraining.
  • Quality Control: Perform frequent quality inspections and correct quality deficiencies.
  • Periodicals: Coordinate, train, and oversee the execution of periodical custodial services.

Requirements:

  • Good interpersonal, decision making, judgment, and communication skills.
  • Ability to direct, train, and provide feedback to others Read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Participate in team development and team-oriented processes.
  • Physical and mental ability to use computer hardware/software.
  • Proficiency in all aspects of custodial tasks/duties.
  • Physical ability to operate custodial equipment, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, reach overhead, climb stairs, and make repetitive motions of the arms and hands.
  • Able to work flexible evening hours between 3:00 pm and 2:00 am as assigned, as well as occasional weekend availability. 
  • Physical ability to push/pull up to 40 pounds, lift up to 150 pounds with assistance and carry up to 40 pounds regularly throughout a normal workday.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 6-12 months experience training in general custodial services.
  • Minimum of 6-12 months experience directing & providing training to others.
  • Valid ODL and acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test and multiple criminal history checks.
